Leif's right chest tube was the main area of focus today. Drainage from that tube had practically stopped until today. The medical staff was concerned that the fluid now draining from the tube may indicate a leak where Leif's esophagus was reattached to his stomach. A blue dye was administered through his NG tube... if there was a leak, the dye would have drained through to his chest tube. Good news - as of tonight, no dye has been detected from any leakage. This drainage may also indicate that his lymphatic system isn't happy... which makes some sense since they did remove four lymph nodes... in this case the drainage would resolve itself and is not of great concern.
Leif is still on the ventillator but more alert. Due to the attention to his chest tube, the medical staff did not work as much with his breathing today.
