Leif is still in ICU, still on the ventillator but continuing to take baby-steps towards regaining consciousness and breathing entirely on his own. His oxygen levels are good but breathing is hard work for him right now... the medical staff regulates the vent so his heart rate is not greatly elevated. He is moving his hands and head more but tires easily.
The chest tube in Leif's left side was taken out this morning. The chest tube in his right side will be removed when he is able to eat. They began feeding him a liquid diet through his nasal-gastric tube today to prepare his digestive system for eating real food in the (hopeful) near future.
